Npower is supplying electricity and gas to business and residential customers in the UK. First founded as Innogy plc in 2000, it became RWE Npower in 2002 and then npower in 2016. Since January 2019, it has been operated as a subsidiary of E.ON UK. It currently employs 5,700 people.
What are the different energy tariffs offered by npower?
Energy tariffs depend on your payment method. With Direct Debit, you can currently choose between:
- Fix 2 Year Plus v8;
- Fix Onlinev37;
- Standard Variable.
The Standard Variable tariff is the only available with prepayment while Fix 2 Year Plus v8 and Standard Variable can be subscribed with receipt of bill.
How are energy bills calculated?
The amount of electricity and gas you have used is calculated using your meter readings. Electricity measures are done in kWh (kilowatt hours) and gas units must be converted to the same unit. When your energy amount is known, npower simply applies its current tariffs to bill you.
I think there is something wrong with my bill. What should I do?
The first thing you should do is to check if you have been sent an estimated energy bill. This information appears in the title. The words “estimated reading” will also appear near the billing date. If it is the case, it means you should supply npower with accurate meter readings. Your account will then be updated with actual data. On the contrary, if you have not been sent an estimated reading, the easiest way to sort it out is by contacting the npower team directly.
Is it possible to pay electricity bills online with npower?
Yes, it is. You need to log in your online account. It takes only a few clicks to be activated. If your online account has already been activated, you should see your balance, your energy consumption and your payments and refunds. You also have the possibility to pay your bill online with your account number. Another option is to pay it with the online payment facility provided by your bank. You will find the required details of npower and the account on the back of the bill. Besides, npower allows payments via monthly Direct Debit.
I will soon move home. What should I do?
Simply log in and mention it online. Your old account will be closed. If you still want npower as your supplier in your new home, you will be given a new tariff. You will need to provide npower with your new address, your final meter readings (not if you have a Smart meter) and the date when you stop and start being legally responsible for your old and new home. Please remember to inform npower about the meters already installed when you move in. If you are a student, things are even easier. All you need to do is inform npower via email, specifying your account number. The npower team shall be informed at least 10 days before the move. You should receive your last bill within 7 to 10 days.
